Ballig Farm – About Us

The Manx Chasers Equestrian Cross Country Course is located at Ballig Farm, Jurby East, Isle of Man in the heart of the Manx countryside.

Ballig Farm

Ballig is a family run farm managed by Paul, Hilary, Claire, and Ian Fletcher.
At Ballig we run a herd of suckler cows producing meat for the Manx market and heifers as beef breeding replacements. We also run a flock of sheep and grow cereal for home use.

At Ballig we farm alongside nature and as part of the Manx Agri Environment Scheme have developed a number of specific habitats to encourage and support wildlife and conservation of native species.

We have a small herd of Pedigree South Devon cattle which are native to the British Isles. We enter our halter trained South Devon’s into each of the summer agricultural shows on the island, and can be seen in the Native Beef Breed classes. We also have commercial Aberdeen Angus cross cows producing beef for the Manx Aberdeen Angus scheme.

We regularly have breeding stock for sale; both Pedigree South Devon bulls and Aberdeen Angus cross heifers, for further details please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We have a large range of agricultural machinery suitable for hay and haylage making and pasture management, and through prior arrangement we are available to make your hay for your horses.

In September 2006 the farm moved into diversification when it was successfully vetted by UK Chasers and approved for the development of Manx Chasers Equestrian Cross Country Course. The course was designed and constructed under the direction of Tim Bennett; a nationally recognised course builder who is on the British Eventing Course Builders Panel and one of the Directors of UK Chasers. The course was passed for use in May 2007 and is open for riders and carriages alike.
